The Power of the Moon
A New and Annoying Mission
“Everyone! Everyone!” Lady Tsunade’s face became angry when the large room of jounin and AMBU members would not quiet down, “Hey you idiots! I said quiet!” she roared.
The room fell awkwardly silent, as the two hundred or so ninja looked at her curiously. Lady Tsunade cleared her throat. She straightened her overcoat a little, and patted her long blond hair.
“I have a matter of great importance to discuss with you. This is absolutely 100 top secret!” Tsunade yelled, wanting to make her point clear, “Konoha will be having a very important person coming and living here. Her name is Mizuki Kipuun. In other words, the Princess of The Land of the Moonlight. The girl is powerful, very powerful. She has abilities that none of us could ever have, or even imagine. She will be here as a warrior for the ever eminent war with The Land of Stars (Totally made that up. And the land of Moon to, just go with it). Now for her safety we will have to keep her true identity a secret until she arrives here, and then she will have protection. Gai, Kakashi, Neji, Sasuke, Tenten, Sakura, Lee, and Naruto will be the ninja assigned to this mission. It is an S- ranked escort, so make her comfortable as possible. Are there any questions about the mission?”
“Cant you send Asuma’s squad instead?” Kakashi asked, the thought of being with Gai for so long scared him out of his mind. Tsunade closed her eyes and shook her head disapprovingly, “I didn’t think so.”
“Dismissed!” Tsunade yelled, and all the Ninja were gone.
(The next morning)
Only three hours into the trip, and Kakashi was already prepared to shoot himself. Gai and Lee had begun giving each other impossible tasks about two hours ago. Now, Gai had to walk on his hands the rest of the way to The Village hidden in the Moonlight, while Lee was doing 750 lunges.
“Hey, guys, I’m all for you training and becoming stronger and everything, but stop fucking around!” Sakura screamed.
Kakashi sighed in appreciation for Sakura.
“Yes my Lot-!” Lee began to yell but Sasuke cut him off.
Sasuke put his finger up to his lips to signal quiet. His face was deadly scary and he looked like he was listening for something in the trees. Lee nodded in agreement.
“What’s wrong Sasuke?” Kakashi asked quietly.
“Nothing, I just couldn’t stand his talking anymore,” Sasuke said with a snicker. BANG. Sasuke was on the ground with a fuming Sakura standing over him.
“HOW DARE YOU DO THAT! YOU HAD ME WORRIED YOU STUPID UCHIHA!” she screamed.
But he is so hot when he snickers. (When it’s bold and italicized its Sakura’s inner self talking just to let you all know.)
“Okay Sakura, settle down will you?” Kakashi asked. Sakura huffed and walked faster to catch up with Tenten.
(That night around 11 pm)
The group walked until they couldn’t anymore.
“We are approaching the border to The Land of Moonlight,” Gai said, “I figure we will camp on the border by the water’s edge.”
“Water?” Neji asked.
“Yes, the River of Moonlight. It is said to be the most beautiful river that has ever existed. It runs from the center of the Land of Moonlight north, and swerves east until it empties to the ocean. It’s shored make up the border in-between our land and theirs.”
Suddenly, Tenten and Sakura gasped in unison. The boys got into fighting position.
“What? What is it,” Naruto asked.
“It’s so…” Tenten managed to choke out.
“Beautiful,” Sakura finished.
“What is so beautiful my Lotus?” Lee asked.
“She’s not your Lotus,” Sasuke said in a huff. Wait, since when do I care if he calls her his Lotus? Sasuke thought. He was brought back to reality by Sakura pointing to the area in front of them.
The river shone a silvery blue, like a newly bought and shined diamond. Slight ripples were made in it from bugs jumping in and out. The moon was large, full, and silver behind it, which made the clear river reflect silver.
“Wow. I know why they call it the most beautiful river to exist,” Naruto said in awe. Even Neji was surprised by its beauty.
“This is where we will camp for the night,” Kakashi said, “We will continue to walk at 7 am sharp, so everyone up at six at latest. We should arrive tomorrow night at the latest. So Naruto, that means it is crucial that you-”
“WAKE UP ON TIME!” Sakura finished for Kakashi.
(One week later)
Naruto woke up for the fourth time in the Land of Moonlight, in The Village Hidden in the Moonlight. He stretched his back.
“Pst. Psssssst. Sasuke-teme!” Naruto whispered to his roommate.
“Hn,” he replied.
“Aren’t you wondering when we are going to meet this girl?”
“Why the hell not? We’ve been gone from the village for a week and a half now. We’ve been here seven whole days, on our eighth, and they haven’t even told us when we are going to leave. And what’s with this girl. They tell us that her name is Emiko Raijin, she is our age, and that she is a feudal lord’s daughter. But why does she need so much protection?”
Lee and Neji entered the room, and sat on the end of the two boy’s bed.
“What are you doing here?” Sasuke asked.
“Wondering the same thing that Naruto-kun asked,” Lee said, tired.
“Haven’t you figured it out yet? They are hiding something from us, probably just her true identity. We’ll know everything in due time so shut up, be patient, and enjoy what time we have off that we get. Naruto, this is like our vacation. This village is small, but known for its attractions. Take it easy, all of you,” Neji said. Of course Neji knew the extent of the situation because he was a jounin, but he didn’t want then others to know that he knew.
Naruto found it very ironic that Neji, the king of ice, was telling him to take it easy.
“What time is it anyway?” Sasuke asked.
“6 am” Naruto replied.
“YOU WOKE ME UP AT 6 TO TALK ABOUT THIS!”
